Funciones del profesor: ¿Cuánto deben saber los padres de la evolución de sus hijos? (Teacher functions: How much should parents know about their children's development? )

 

En nuestra última clase, estuvimos conociendo cuáles son las principales funciones del profesor según la LOMLOE. Estas 12+1 funciones reflejan lo que el profesorado debe tener presente durante sus clases ya sea dentro de ellas o fuera.

 Una de estas funciones (91.1.h) es: "la información periódica a las familias sobre el proceso de aprendizaje de sus hijos e hijas, así como la orientación para su cooperación en el mismo. Esta función puede parecer muy obvia, y todos estaremos de acuerdo en que la familia debería estar informada de la evolución de sus hijo para así también colaborar. Sin embargo, creo que esta función en muchas ocasiones es "olvidada" y es muy común ver familias que no conocen la evolución de su hijo/a en el instituto a excepción de las notas, y a veces ni eso. Por ello, creo que se debería tener mucho más presente a la familia, ya que esto también puede ayudar a conocer las circunstancias del alumno y poder ayudarle mejor a partir de estos conocimientos. Si la familia es consciente de la evolución de su hijo/a en el instituto puede intentar ayudarle/a ya sea con el estudio o con los trabajos o simplemente dando apoyo para que continúe o intente mejorar en alguna asignatura que cuesta más. 

También es necesario que, para poder llevar esto a cabo de la mejor manera posible, las familias tengan una orientación de cómo pueden cooperar y ayudar a su hijo/a y esto se lo debe proporcionar el centro. Tener reuniones periódicas en las que las familias se reúnan tanto con el tutor/a como con el resto de profesores es clave para que esta función se pueda cumplir. 

También es importante que para el buen funcionamiento de esta función, el profesor tenga en cuenta el resto de ellas sin dejar atrás ninguna. Al principio puede sonar estresante o incluso imposible controlar todas, y es verdad. Muchas veces se hará cuesta arriba y seguramente se nos vaya de las manos algunas de ellas, pero creo que como futuros docentes debemos conseguir ese equilibrio en todas para que nuestros alumnos sientan que nuestra aula es un lugar seguro, motivador y en la que puedan aprender y avanzar hacia su futuro prometedor.

In our last class, we were learning about the main functions of the teacher according to the LOMLOE. These 12+1 functions reflect what teachers should keep in mind during their classes, both inside and outside the classroom.

One of these functions (91.1.h) is: "the periodic information to the families about the learning process of their sons and daughters, as well as the orientation for their cooperation in it. This function may seem very obvious, and we all agree that the family should be informed of the evolution of their children in order to collaborate. However, I believe that this function is often "forgotten" and it is very common to see families who do not know the evolution of their child in high school except for the grades, and sometimes not even that. Therefore, I believe that the family should be much more present, since this can also help to know the circumstances of the student and be able to help him/her better based on this knowledge. If the family is aware of the evolution of their son/daughter in high school, they can try to help him/her either with the study or with the work or simply giving support so that he/she can continue or try to improve in some subject that is more difficult.

It is also necessary that, in order to carry this out in the best possible way, families have an orientation on how they can cooperate and help their child and this should be provided by the center. Having regular meetings in which the families meet with both the tutor and the rest of the teachers is key for this function to be fulfilled.

It is also important that for the proper functioning of this function, the teacher takes into account the rest of them without leaving any of them behind. At first it may sound stressful or even impossible to control all of them, and it is true. Many times it will be uphill and some of them will surely get out of hand, but I believe that as future teachers we must achieve that balance in all of them so that our students feel that our classroom is a safe, motivating place where they can learn and move towards their promising future.
