¿Mi profesor ideal? Pues... (My ideal teacher? Well...)

 

¡Buenas!

¿Alguna vez os habéis parado a pensar en las cualidades que os gustaría que vuestros profesores o tutores tuvieran? Pues bien, el otro día en clase estuvimos hablando un poco sobre ello y nos dividimos en grupos para hablar de cuáles eran las cualidades que deberían (y deberíamos) tener para ser los profesores o tutores ideales. 

Aquí arriba os dejo una foto de los atributos que en mi grupo consideramos que debería tener el profesor o tutor ideal. Como veis, hay unos cuantos y me gustaría destacar algunos de ellos:

1. Innovador: esto está relacionado también con ser creativo. Creemos que un profesor tiene que ser capaz de adaptarse, de ser flexible y original en sus clases para mantener esa atención y motivación en los alumnos y les ayude a desarrollar su capacidad de innovar en las materias y ser capaces de asumir riesgos y resolver problemas de manera original.
2. Asertivo: esto es algo clave para un profesor o tutor ideal. Un profesor asertivo genera un ambiente seguro en la clase y hace que los alumnos se encuentren cómodos en ella además de enseñarles a expresar sus emociones o pensamientos de la manera adecuada.
3. Observador: es muy importante que un profesor esté pendiente de todo lo que sucede en su clase y con sus alumnos, ya que muchas veces podemos detectar problemas o ayudarles si lo necesitan. Es una manera de hacer ver al alumno que puede contar con el profesor y que va a estar dispuesto a ayudar en cualquier cosa.
4. Paciente: muchas veces es difícil mantener la calma ante ciertas situaciones, pero demostrar paciencia y confianza en ellos es clave para que te vean como alguien confiable y cercano. No todos los alumnos llevan el mismo ritmo y es importante tenerlo en cuenta y ser paciente con ellos ya que así no les desmotivamos y les damos la confianza necesaria para que puedan sacar cualquier cosa adelante.
5. Sabio: un profesor que conoce su especialidad de manera profunda es clave, pero también tiene que saber llevar a cabo otras funciones o adaptarse a las situaciones que puedan surgir de manera inteligente.
6. Por último, y aunque en el dibujo no esté añadido, creo que un profesor o tutor ideal debe tener pasión y vocación por lo que hace. Creo que todos nos hemos encontrado con algún profesor que sentíamos que no disfrutaba estar en clase o dar su asignatura y resultaba muy desmotivador y aburrido. Por eso, tener esa pasión por la especialidad y la docencia en general puede llegar a cambiar la clase por completo, y puede conseguir que un alumno que en principio no tiene mucho interés por tu asignatura la encuentre fascinante y motivadora y creo que eso es algo muy reconfortante y bonito en esta profesión.

En conclusión, la docencia es una profesión de vocación y en la que va a haber momentos mejores y peores, pero creo que al final cambiamos la vida de muchas personas sin darnos cuenta y eso es algo mágico. Así que....¿vamos a intentar ser esos profesores ideales no?

Have you ever stopped to think about the qualities you would like your teachers or tutors to have? Well, the other day in class we were talking a little bit about it and we divided into groups to talk about what were the qualities they should (and we should) have to be the ideal teachers or tutors.

Above is a picture of the attributes that my group believes the ideal teacher or tutor should have. As you can see, there are quite a few and I would like to highlight some of them:

1. Innovative: this is also related to being creative. We believe that a teacher has to be able to adapt, to be flexible and original in their classes to keep that attention and motivation in the students and help them develop their ability to innovate in the subjects and be able to take risks and solve problems in an original way.
2. Assertive: this is key for an ideal teacher or tutor. An assertive teacher creates a safe classroom environment and makes students feel comfortable in the classroom and teaches them to express their emotions or thoughts in the right way.
3. Observer: it is very important for a teacher to be aware of everything that happens in the classroom and with the students, since we can often detect problems or help them if they need it. It is a way to make the student see that he/she can count on the teacher and that he/she will be willing to help with anything.
4. Patient: it is often difficult to remain calm in certain situations, but showing patience and confidence in them is key for them to see you as someone reliable and close. Not all students have the same pace and it is important to take this into account and be patient with them so that we do not demotivate them and give them the necessary confidence to be able to do anything.
5. Wise: a teacher who knows his specialty in depth is key, but also has to know how to carry out other functions or adapt to situations that may arise intelligently.
6. Finally, and although it is not added in the picture, I believe that an ideal teacher or tutor should have passion and vocation for what he or she does. I think we have all come across a teacher who we felt did not enjoy being in class or teaching their subject and it was very demotivating and boring. Therefore, having that passion for the specialty and teaching in general can change the class completely, and can make a student who at first does not have much interest in your subject find it fascinating and motivating and I think that is something very comforting and beautiful in this profession.

In conclusion, teaching is a profession of vocation and in which there will be better and worse moments, but I believe that in the end we change the lives of many people without realizing it and that is something magical. So .... let's try to be those ideal teachers, right?
