¿Participar en el centro? ¿Pero cómo? (Participate in the school center, but how?)

 

¡Hola a todos!

Hoy vengo a hablar de un tema que tratamos el otro día en clase y es: cómo optimizar la participación en los centros educativos. Muchas veces, cuando nos hablan de esto pensamos que los profesores y el personal del centro son los que tienen "voz" en un centro y que los alumnos o padres muchas veces no son tan escuchados. Por eso, muchas veces cuando en un centro se pide participación para cualquier actividad o proyecto, no recibimos una respuesta muy positiva. 

Es verdad que los profesores y personal deben participar en el centro, ya sea promoviendo actividades, proyectos y consiguiendo mejorar el centro ya sea formando parte del consejo escolar o con la propuesta de nuevas ideas. Sin embargo, los alumnos y padres también forman parte de la vida del centro, de hecho son nuestro objetivo principal. Por eso, es muy importante conseguir que sean partícipes de lo que sucede en el centro y se sientan escuchados para conseguir mejorar en lo necesario. 

Por todo esto, se pueden llevar a cabo varias propuestas para mejorar esta participación:

1. Comunicación efectiva: tener una comunicación continua con padres, alumnos o profesores de lo que sucede en la escuela, las ideas, propuestas o actividades hace que se estrechen las relaciones con todas las partes y se sientan parte del centro, aumentando la posibilidad de ofrecerse a participar en ellas.
2. Programas extracurriculares: realizar actividades, cursos o excursiones fuera del horario escolar y en el que también puedan participar los padres fomenta un ambiente positivo en el centro. También mejora la relación entre los alumnos, padres y profesores en un contexto que no es tan escolar como una clase normal y corriente. 
3. Consejo de estudiantes: crear un consejo en el que los estudiantes tengan sus representantes y puedan tener voz en el centro aumenta la participación. Muchas veces se pasa por alto lo que piensan los alumnos de las clases, los contenidos o las actividades y, al fin y al cabo, todo esto se hace por y para ellos. Por lo que, si no les escuchamos, solo aumentamos la posibilidad de tener un alumnado que no quiere participar y que no se siente motivado ni escuchado.
4. Clubes y organizaciones: crear clubes de diferentes temáticas como series, libros, anime o videojuegos puede crear mucha motivación y ganas de participar por parte de los alumnos. Además, es una forma de unir a alumnos que igual no se juntarían en un ambiente de clase regular, haciendo que se conozcan más entre ellos y compartan los gustos. 
5. Actividades o cursos para los profesores y padres: promover cursos de alguna temática como uso de TIC, motivación o creatividad para los padres y alumnos también puede resultar beneficioso para la participación escolar. También ayuda a que tanto los profesores como los padres aprendan más sobre el centro o sobre temas que no conocen tanto para así también mejorar su relación con los alumnos o hijos. 
   

Estas son algunas de las propuestas que pueden mejorar la participación en los centros, pero existen muchas más. Con todo esto, lo que debe quedar en claro es que conseguir que todos los que forman parte de un centro (profesores, padres, alumnos, personal) se sientan parte de este y quieran participar en mejorarlo es la clave para el éxito, la mejora y evolución.

Today I come to talk about a topic that we discussed the other day in class and that is: how to optimize participation in schools. Many times, when we talk about this we think that teachers and staff are the ones who have a "voice" in a center and that students or parents are often not so heard. For this reason, many times when a center asks for participation in any activity or project, we do not receive a very positive response.

It is true that teachers and staff must participate in the center, either by promoting activities, projects and improving the center, either by being part of the school council or by proposing new ideas. However, students and parents are also part of the life of the center, in fact they are our main objective. Therefore, it is very important to make them participate in what happens in the center and to make them feel listened to in order to improve what is necessary. 

For all this, several proposals can be carried out to improve this participation:

1. Effective communication: having continuous communication with parents, students or teachers about what is happening in the school, ideas, proposals or activities strengthens relationships with all parties and makes them feel part of the center, increasing the possibility of volunteering to participate in them.
2. Extra-curricular programs: carrying out activities, courses or excursions outside school hours, in which parents can also participate, fosters a positive atmosphere in the center. It also improves the relationship between students, parents and teachers in a context that is not as school-like as a regular classroom. 
3. Student council: creating a council in which students have their representatives and can have a voice in the center increases participation. What students think about classes, content or activities is often overlooked and, after all, all of this is done by and for them. Therefore, if we do not listen to them, we only increase the possibility of having a student body that does not want to participate and does not feel motivated or listened to.
4. Clubs and organizations: creating clubs on different topics such as series, books, anime or video games can create a lot of motivation and willingness to participate on the part of students. In addition, it is a way to unite students who might not get together in a regular classroom environment, making them get to know each other better and share their likes and dislikes. 
5. Activities or courses for teachers and parents: promoting courses on topics such as ICT use, motivation or creativity for parents and students can also be beneficial for school participation. It also helps both teachers and parents to learn more about the school or about topics they are not so familiar with in order to improve their relationship with their students or children.

These are some of the proposals that can improve participation in schools, but there are many more. With all this, what should be clear is that getting all those who are part of a center (teachers, parents, students, staff) to feel part of it and want to participate in improving it is the key to success, improvement and evolution.
