Un poco de rock en clase y la frase de la teacher María (A little bit of rock in class and the teacher Maria's quote )

 ¡Buenas! 

Hoy vengo a hablaros de una película relacionada con la docencia: School of Rock. Esta película del 2003 y dirigida por Richard Linklater nos cuenta la historia de un guitarrista (Dewey Finn) que forma parte de una banda de rock and roll es echado por los integrantes de esta banda. Desesperado y sin dinero, decide aceptar la oferta de un compañero suyo de piso para dar clases en una escuela primaria como sustituto. A pesar de no tener ni idea de dar clase, Dewey consigue que a través de la música, sus alumnos consigan confiar en el y cambiar sus vidas.

Si relacionamos esta película con las pedagogías que establece Octavi Fullat en su libro "PAIDEIA", creo que podríamos encontrar similitudes con la pedagogía libertaria ya que durante la película se muestra esa búsqueda de libertad, autonomía e igualdad de los alumnos a través de la música. Muchas veces la educación puede llegar a ser autoritaria o coercitiva, y es clave que los docentes cambiemos eso y demos libertad a los alumnos de aprender relacionando los conocimientos con sus intereses o sus dudas, para así aumentar su motivación y ganas de aprender.

También podríamos relacionar esta película con la pedagogía activa. Esta pedagogía se centra en la activa participación del alumnado en su propio proceso de aprendizaje. Busca un aprendizaje experiencial, a través de experiencias prácticas y que sea colaborativo. Por eso, durante la película podemos ver que también se usa esta pedagogía ya que Dewey crea una banda de música con su clase, ya que a estos les gusta mucho la música y, a través de esto, consigue una participación activa y un aprendizaje distinto con los alumnos. 

Por lo tanto, creo que con esta película podemos ver características tanto de la pedagogía libertaria como de la pedagogía activa y además con un buen toque de humor.

Otro punto que quiero añadir en este post es algo que hablamos en clase el otro día y es: "¿Qué verso o frase dejarías en la materia educativa?". Y como mi especialidad es el inglés, creo que tengo que decirla en este idioma. Mi frase sería: "Learning is a long-life process so...let's enjoy it as much as we can and never stop our curiosity about it."

Hello! 

Today I come to talk about a movie related to teaching: School of Rock. This 2003 film directed by Richard Linklater tells the story of a guitarist (Dewey Finn) who is part of a rock and roll band is kicked out by the members of this band. Desperate and penniless, he decides to accept an offer from a roommate to teach at an elementary school as a substitute. Despite having no idea of how to teach, Dewey manages to get his students to trust him and change their lives through music.

If we relate this film to the pedagogies established by Octavi Fullat in his book "PAIDEIA", I think we could find similarities with the libertarian pedagogy since during the film we can see the search for freedom, autonomy and equality of the students through music. Many times education can become authoritarian or coercive, and it is key that teachers change that and give freedom to students to learn by relating knowledge to their interests or their doubts, in order to increase their motivation and desire to learn.

We could also relate this film to active pedagogy. This pedagogy focuses on the active participation of students in their own learning process. It seeks an experiential learning, through practical experiences and that is collaborative. Therefore, during the film we can see that this pedagogy is also used since Dewey creates a music band with his class, since they like music very much and, through this, he achieves an active participation and a different learning with the students. 

Therefore, I believe that with this film we can see characteristics of both libertarian pedagogy and active pedagogy and also with a good touch of humor.

Another point I want to add in this post is something we talked about in class the other day and that is, "What verse or phrase would you leave in the educational subject?". And since my major is English, I think I have to say it in English. My phrase would be, "Learning is a long-life process so...let's enjoy it as much as we can and never stop our curiosity about it."
