¿Un test que sabe más de mi que yo misma? (A test that knows more about me than I do?)

 ¡Buenas! 

El otro día en clase estuvimos haciendo una serie de test que se supone que, dependiendo de lo que respondieras, luego te daba un resultado que te decía cómo era tu personalidad o cómo veías ciertos aspectos de tu vida. Esto lo hicimos para saber un poco más sobre el asesoramiento a los alumnos y de la figura del coach educativo.

Un coach educativo es un profesional que trabaja en la educación para ayudar a los alumnos a alcanzar sus metas académicas y personales. Tratan de orientar, apoyar y mejorar el rendimiento académico, la gestión de tiempo o la motivación entre otras. Además, un coach no enseña contenido académico específico como un tutor, sino que se centra en el desarrollo de habilidades y el apoyo emocional para que así los alumnos sepan aprovechar su potencial en el entorno educativo.

Pues bien, en clase hicimos un par de test que se han utilizado o se utilizan para este asesoramiento. Uno de ellos, era el test de la teoría de la X y la Y de Douglas Mcgregor. Esta teoría trata dos enfoques opuestos en la gestión de recursos humanos y la motivación de los empleados. Si tus resultados se acercaban a la X:

• Sueles tener una aversión inherente al trabajo y tratas de evitarlo. También, muestra que prefieres que te dirijan, evitas la responsabilidad y tienes poca ambición

En cambio, si estás más cerca de la Y:

• Sueles ser intrínsecamente motivado para trabajar y con gran potencial. Buscas desafíos, eres creativo y asumes la responsabilidad. 

Otro de los test que hicimos y que, a mi parecer, me pareció super curioso fue el test WARTEGG.

En este test, como se puede ver arriba, hay 6 espacios con figuras distintas. Lo que teníamos que hacer era dibujar algo en cada espacio a partir de esas figuras. Después, nos intercambiamos los dibujos anónimamente y aprendimos lo que significaba cada espacio, donde ya descubrimos muchas cosas. La cosa iba tal que así:

1. Dibujo de cómo nos vemos a nosotros mismos
2. Dibujo de cómo vemos a nuestros amigos
3. Dibujo de cómo vemos a nuestra familia
4. Dibujo de cómo vemos nuestro trabajo
5. Dibujo de cómo nos vemos en el amor
6. Dibujo de cómo nos vemos en el sexo

La verdad es que durante el test nos divertimos mucho y, en muchos casos, estaba bastante acertado lo que dibujábamos sin saber qué significaba en un principio con lo que luego descubrimos que era cada cosa. 

De todo esto, sacamos que muchas veces realizar tests de este estilo con los alumnos pueden hacernos descubrir muchas cosas de ellos y también así conocerles más y poderles ayudar si lo necesitan.

The other day in class we were doing a series of tests that were supposed to, depending on what you answered, then gave you a result that told you what your personality was like or how you saw certain aspects of your life. We did this to learn a little more about counseling students and the figure of the educational coach.

An educational coach is a professional who works in education to help students achieve their academic and personal goals. They try to guide, support and improve academic performance, time management or motivation among others. In addition, a coach does not teach specific academic content like a tutor, but focuses on skills development and emotional support so that students know how to take advantage of their potential in the educational environment.

Well, in class we did a couple of tests that have been or are used for this counseling. One of them was Douglas Mcgregor's X and Y theory test. This theory deals with two opposing approaches to human resource management and employee motivation. If your results were close to the X:

• You tend to have an inherent dislike of work and try to avoid it. Also, it shows that you prefer to be directed, avoid responsibility and have little ambition.

On the other hand, if you are closer to Y:

• You tend to be intrinsically motivated to work and have great potential. You seek challenges, are creative and take responsibility. 

Another test we did that I found super curious was the WARTEGG test.

In this test, as you can see above, there are 6 spaces with different figures. What we had to do was to draw something in each space from those figures. Afterwards, we exchanged the drawings anonymously and learned what each space meant, where we discovered many things. It went like this:

2. Drawing of how we see our friends
3. Drawing of how we see our family
4. Drawing of how we see our work
5. Drawing of how we see ourselves in love
6. Drawing of how we see ourselves in sex

The truth is that during the test we had a lot of fun and, in many cases, it was quite accurate what we drew without knowing what it meant at first with what we later found out what each thing was.

From all this, we can see that many times doing this kind of tests with students can make us discover many things about them and also get to know them better and be able to help them if they need it.
